 Dec.
2001 -- It's getting colder and winter is in the air!
I've been thinking about long walks in the snow, and cross-country skiing!
What could be better than a great hat! Here's my
"Nordic
Sweetheart Hat" (click here for the free pattern); a traditional
double layered hat with turned-up band, predominantly decorated with hearts.
The photo to the right shows how it's knit in a long shaped tube that you
fold double to make this really warm hat! With the brim folded up, you
get four layers over your ears!Thank you to Wannietta Prescod, a fellow Milton Knitter for modeling this hat for
me at our December 2001 meeting, so that I could take this picture!
This hat would be a great project for those of
you new to two-colour stranded knitting. This design uses fingering
weight yarn at a gauge of 7 stitches to the inch.
It would also be a great gift
-- after all, with 161 colours to choose from, you can make
this hat to match any coat or ski outfit!
If you'd like to knit this hat in Shetland Spindrift; click on the She
Ewe Knits Exclusive Designs page for details.
